Asia Cup India Squad – Asia Cup T20 Cricket: The Indian squad for Asia Cup T20 will be picked on 8th August. The Asian Cricket Council has set a deadline of 8th August for teams to submit their squads. The BCCI Selectors will meet on the same day in afternoon to select the Indian team for Asia Cup T20 Cricket in UAE. According to available information, selectors are extremely worried on the issue of KL Rahul’ fitness and Virat Kohli’s form. Asia Cup India Squad: KL Rahul’s FITNESS & Virat Kohli’s form bothering selectors

Asia Cup India Squad: The selection committee meeting according to a source will take place in Mumbai. The selectors will watch the ongoing India vs WestIndies T20 series closely before the squad is finalized.

1st Match of the 5 match T20 Series is already over as India leads the series 1-0. The series ends on August 7th and the selectors will meet on 8th to finalize the squad for Asia Cup T20 in UAE.

Meanwhile as reported earlier by InsideSport, the submission deadline for ICC T20 World Cup in Australia is 15th September. This means the Asia Cup and T20World Cup hopefuls have just 4 more games to impress the selectors.

Selecting the 15-man squad for the three ODIs against Zimbabwe was the easier decision to make for the national selectors who met virtually on Saturday (July 30). The difficult task will come in a week’s time when the selectors converge again to pick the squad for the Asia Cup. The deadline to announce the team for the Asia Cup is August 8.

It can be said with a degree of certainty that the team picked for the Asia Cup will almost be the same that will travel to Australia for the Twenty20 World Cup in October-November, discounting the exigencies in the form of injuries. The same set of players will also feature in the six T20I games against Australia and South Africa in September and October. The selectors want to give the team management a sufficient number of games to play with ahead of the World Cup.

It is obvious that all the big guns will be back for the Asia Cup – Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul included. The three are missing from the T20I squad in the West Indies currently, due to personal and health reasons.

A health update on Rahul was discussed at the selection meeting on Saturday and it is learnt that the Karnataka batsman has still not fully recovered from Covid. He is expected to be fit for the Asia Cup, which has been relocated to the UAE from Sri Lanka recently by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The tournament is set to kick off on August 27 with the final scheduled to be held on September 11.
