Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz is having a great run of form as he claimed the second spot in Montreal and for a portion was leading the FP1 session but had to settle for the third spot overall. The Spanish driver was followed by his teammate Charles Leclerc in the fourth spot as both Ferrari and Mercedes showed great improvements overall.

Moreover, Haas’ Mick Schumacher also had a great day in the office as he finished fifth overall. The German was followed by Alfa Romeo’s Guanyu Zhou in the sixth spot as the Chinese driver looked comfortable out on a rainy Silverstone track.
Can’t read into those #FP1 times too much, with such limited running.

Kevin Magnussen also had a good outing today as he claimed the seventh spot, with Haas seeing both their drivers in the top ten. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll finished eighth but in the dying stages of the FP1 session, he lost his grip on the tyres and went onto the gravel. Thankfully, for Aston Martin, Stroll didn’t do any damage to his car.
A few cars emerge onto the track including Lance Stroll, but the Canadian spins off into the gravel.
He’s stuck. Out comes the red flag, and FP1 is brought to an end a couple of minutes early.#BritishGP #F1 pic.twitter.com/Nocss32ezW

AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda, who once was in the top three dropped down positions and finished ninth overall. He was followed by the veteran driver Sebastian Vettel in the tenth spot.
That’s a wrap for #FP1 at the #BritishGP.
A heavily rain-affected session ends under red flags, with @lance_stroll‘s AMR22 unfortunately beached in the gravel.
Time to reset for #FP2 and hopefully provide some on-track entertainment for this fantastic @SilverstoneUK crowd. 💚 pic.twitter.com/QQx3WVpuG7

Furthermore, there were ten drivers who failed to clock their best lap time as rain for the major portion of the session kept on falling heavily. When the track was empty the seven-time F1 champion Hamilton came out of his garage and waved to the fans who were present at the iconic circuit.
The ten drivers who missed out included some big names and they are George Russell, Sergio Perez, Esteban Ocon, Fernando Alonso, Alex Albon, Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, Lando Norris, Nicholas Latifi, and the reigning champion Max Verstappen.
