PV Sindhu vs He Bingjiao

Sindhu was slow off the blocks as the Chinese didn’t let her get a grip, racing to a 9-2 lead and then extended it to 11-4 at the break.
Sindhu began playing aggressively after the break and pocketed four straight points to reduce the deficit to 8-11. But the Chinese didn’t allow Sindhu to dominate the affair and easily bagged the first game.
Trailing, Sindhu was expected to come out all guns blazing in the second game but it was Bing Jiao, who took an early 5-1 lead.
Although the Chinese enjoyed a slight upper hand throughout the second game, Sindhu kept it close. But eventually Bing Jiao sealed the match in her favour.
By virtue of this win, world No. 9 Bing Jiao, whom Sindhu had defeated at the Badminton Asia Championship, lead the Indian 10-8 on head-to-head record.
The defeat at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno has affected Sindhu’s preparations for the next month’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Sai Praneeth vs Hans Kristian Vittinghus
World No.19 Sai Praneeth has not been in a great touch this year. His best performance this year is making it to the third round at the Orleans Masters. He has played in four other tournaments this year and hasn’t gone past the first round in any of those tournaments.
Meanwhile, 21st ranked Hans Kristian Vittinghus enters the tournament after a first round exit at the Indonesian Masters. His best performance this year is quarterfinal appearance at European Championships.
This will be the fifth meeting between both these players and Vittinghus leads the head-to-head record 3-1.
Sameer Verma vs Thomas Rouxel
Sameer Verma is looking for redemption in his career after a poor outing so far this year. He started the year by bowing out from the second round at Indian Open. He also faced first round exit at All England Championship. His best performance is reaching the quarterfinals at the Swiss Open. He then suffered an injury and made a comeback in the Indonesian Masters only to bow out from the first round.
He was about to face compatriot Parupalli Kashyap but the latter pulled out of the tournament and he is set to face France’s Thomas Rouxel. Apart from reaching the quarterfinals at the European Championships, he hasn’t gone past the first round in all the other tournaments he played this year.
Former Singapore Open champion B Sai Praneeth, who hasn’t been in the best of form, is pitted against Denmark’s Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus in his opening match.
Among others, Parupalli Kashyap will be missing in action as he eyes a comeback at the Malaysia Open after recovering from a hamstring and ankle injury.
