Meanwhile, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took the second spot and was followed by Max Verstappen in the third position. Carlos Sainz took home the fourth spot and is desperately in need of a podium finish this time around. In the dying stages of the FP1 session, Fernando Alonso kept his calm and bettered his lap time to finish fifth overall.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton in his W13 challenger once again struggled as he could only manage to finish in the sixth spot. The Mercedes driver faced massive bouncing in the straight lines and hence couldn’t finish in the top four. Yuki Tsunoda took home the seventh spot and was followed by George Russell in the eighth spot.

Moreover, Pierre Gasly showed improvements and claimed the ninth spot. He was followed by Alpine’s Esteban Ocon in the tenth spot. McLaren’s Lando Norris had to settle for an eleventh-place finish.

Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll also has fond memories of racing at the street circuit of Baku as he claimed the twelfth spot overall. Haas’ Kevin Magnussen also had a great day in the office as he took home the thirteenth spot. He was followed by veteran driver Sebastian Vettel in the fourteenth place.
Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas driving in his new Alfa Romeo livery could only manage to finish in the fifteenth spot. He outpaced his rookie teammate Guanyu Zhou, who could only manage to finish in the sixteenth spot.

Williams’ Alex Albon after being in the top 10 dropped positions heavily and finished in the seventeenth position overall. McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo was reeling behind in the eighteenth spot and he is the second driver who is desperate to get a strong result under his belt. Lately, he has been criticized by a lot of ex-drivers and pundits, but the Honey Badger will come out of this strongly.

Lastly, there were two drivers who couldn’t finish the FP1 session in the form of Mick Schumacher and Nicholas Latifi. Firstly, it was Mick who had to stop due to water leakage.

Then it was the turn of the Williams driver Nicholas Latifi who just lost the power of his car and had to abort the FP1 session. Both these drivers are in massive need of track time and good results under their belts.
