Indonesia Masters Badminton LIVE – India at Indonesia Masters: After the Thailand Open, which got over two weeks  ago, Badminton action is about to resume with the Indonesia Masters. The tournament is set to kickstart on 7th June, Tuesday. The BWF Super 500 tournament is all set to feature world’s top badminton stars who will be battling it out for the title for a week. The other players in the draw include HS Prannoy, Parupalli Kashyap and Saina Nehwal who are all unseeded in the tournament.

The annual badminton tournament will be the tenth tournament of the 2022 BWF World Tour, which had been held since 2007. This year marks the 12th edition of the tournament.

The finals will be played on Sunday, 12th June.

Men’s Singles 

World No.9 Lakshya Sen leads the men’s draw from the Indian side as he has been seeded seventh in the tournament. Lakshya will begin the campaign by facing Denmark’s Hans-Kristian Vittinghus in the first round. He is likely to face third seed Chou-Tien-chen in the quarterfinals.

The only other Indian singles player in the draw is Sameer Verma. He will face a qualifier in the first round. Thomas Cup winner HS Prannoy and Parupalli Kashyap were initially part of the draw but they pulled out of the tournament at the last-minute citing workload management.

Men’s Doubles

In men’s doubles India will have the only representation from the unseeded Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy as the other top players like World No.8 pair Chirag Shetty and Satwik sairaj Rankireddy and also the Thomas Cup winning Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun as well as Krishnaprasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Panjala have opted not to feature in this tournament.

Attri-Reddy duo will face Indonesia’s Pramudya Kusumawardana and Yeremia Rambitan. If they win the first match, they are likely to face fifth seeded pair from Indonesia Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

Women’s Singles

After bowing out from the semifinals at Thailand Open, PV Sindhu returns back to action in the Indinesian Masters. She enters the tournament as the fourth seed. She will face a Denmark’s Line Christophersen in the first round. The other top seed in her quarter is fifth seed Ratchanok Intanon and they are likely to meet in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the unseeded Saina Nehwal who was about to begin her campaign against Denmark’s Line Kjaersfeldt in the first round, pulled out of the tournament at the last minute.

Doubles draw

In women’s doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy will be in action after they missed out the Uber Cup and Thailand Open as Sikki suffered an injury. The unseeded pair will face Brazil’s Lima sisters in the first round. In the second round, they are likely to set up clash with China’s top seeded pair Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan.

Simran Singhi and Rithika Thaker are India’s second women’s doubles partners. They begin their campaign by facing second seeded Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan in the first round.

Mixed Doubles 

India’s mixed doubles pair Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto will kickstart their campaign against Indonesia’s fourth seed Praveen Jordan and Melati Oktavianti. The other Indian mixed doubles pair in the competition is Ashwini Ponnappa and Sumeeth Reddy. They have qualified for the main draw after playing the qualifiers. They will face Indonesia’s Hafiz Fiazal and Serena Kani in the first round.
