PH to have generally fair weather; Rain in Sorsogon due to Bulusan eruption

MANILA, Philippines — While the country is expected to have a generally fair weather on Monday, Sorsogon may have isolated rain and thunderstorms brought by the eruption of Bulusan Volcano, the state weather bureau said.

“Inaasahan ho natin generally maaliwalas pa rin na panahon ang mararanasan sa malaking bahagi ng ating bansa,” said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Obet Badrina.

(We expect generally clear weather in large parts of our country.)

“Sa may bahagi ng Bicol Region posible pa rin ng isolated rain showers thunderstorms lalo na sa bahagi ng Sorsogon kung saan pumutok ang Bulusan,” he added.

(In parts of the Bicol Region, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are still possible, especially in the parts of Sorsogon where Bulusan erupted.)

Generally fair weather is also expected in the Visayas, despite the presence of a low pressure area (LPA) 30 kilometers west northwest of Catarman, Northern Samar.

“Sa ngayon po maliit pa ang tsansa na ang LPA na ito ay maging bagyo sa mga susunod na araw,” said Badrina.

(For now, there is little chance that this LPA will become a typhoon in the coming days.)

“Inaasahan din natin na posibleng malusaw ang LPA,” he added.

(We also expect the LPA to disperse.)

The same weather condition is expected to prevail in Mindanao with a forecast for isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
