South African captain Temba Bavuma will address the media from Johannesburg on Tuesday. The Proteas are scheduled to arrive on Wednesday in India. The series marks India’s first assignment after the IPL 2022 and serves as a preparation ground for the T20 World Cup later this year.
South Africa will see the return of some big names after their IPL stars opted out of the hoke series against Bangladesh. With all players fit and available, the Proteas present themselves as a strong unit and will be gunning for glory.
The likes of Anrich Nortje, Quinton de Kock, Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada and Aiden Markram will all make a comeback to the team. Tristan Stubbs, who recently made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians, is in line for his South Africa debut.
The series also marks the first time that a bilateral series will be played without a bio bubble following the Covid-19 pandemic. The BCCI had organised the IPL under restrictions, but have now opened all avenues, including 100% attendance to the fans.
